This gallery showcases a series of work by Alison Cooke

Alison is a ceramic artist who works with clay that has been dug from interventions such as mining, engineering or scientific research. Her work revolves around the layers of history below a location, with a particular focus on hidden networks. During the residency, she will work with local people in Lowestoft, Suffolk, encouraging them to become sculptors using material from beneath their feet. She will give 100 balls of clay, dug from recent cliff falls to residents to shape into their own artwork, focused on linking the past and future, and the role of renewable energy. This community art project will be exhibited alongside Alison’s prints and ceramic sculptures. She will also share visual evidence of climate change caught in deep-sea cores, (North Sea Core, Aberdeenshire), bringing the land that was once under the sea back to the surface. www.alisoncooke.co.uk
