Our team - Clare Dudeney

Clare has worked for 15 years promoting sustainability and action on climate change. As an associate at Sustainability First she leads the Together for a Fair Climate Future programme. Developing creative and collaborative responses to the climate crisis and social justice issues. Previously she led work on Power Responsive - encouraging businesses to flex their electricity demand to meet system needs.

She was Director of Strategic Policy for Energy-UK, the national energy organisation, from 2012-2014. Prior to that she spent six years with one of its predecessor bodies, the UK Business Council for Sustainable Energy. At UKBCSE, she held posts as Head of Policy and thereafter Director. She has a Masters degree in Environment, Politics and Globalisation from Kings College, London, and a Bachelors of Science in Geography from the University of Lancaster.

She is also an artist and curator. With a focus on abstract painting, printmaking and weaving. She has a Masters degree in Fine Art from the City and Guilds of London Art School. She recently went to Antarctica, as Artist in Residence. She is involved in a collaborative arts and science outreach programme with Cambridge University called the SunSpaceArt project.

Sharon is a champion of consumer concerns in energy and water and has worked with Sustainability First since 2013. She served on the Council of Which? until April 2019, prior to which she was a long-standing board member of Consumer Futures.

Dr Martin Hurst was a senior civil servant on environmental issues for 20 years, including as Water Director in government and Environment Advisor in Number 10, and is by background a professional economist.

Zoe McLeod is a consumer policy and regulatory expert with a particular focus on energy, water, innovation and consumer vulnerability issues.
Judith Ward

Judith Ward has worked with Sustainability First as an associate since 2005. She was director of Sustainability First for five years. She is an energy policy professional with long-standing practical experience of both the utility and consumer worlds.
Alice Cross

Alice is Sustainability First’s Research Officer, responsible for carrying out research on projects and Sustainability First initiatives, as well as communicating Sustainability First’s messages.

Janine is Sustainability First’s Communications and Engagement officer, responsible for developing and implementing the organisation’s communications strategy.
Sonya Peres

Sonya is Sustainability First’s part-time Educational Outreach Officer for the Sustainable Futures Programme. She is working on delivering workshops on sustainability for primary and secondary school youth.
