Rules, Terms & Conditions of Entry

  • The Artist
    • The Competition is open to all living British and international artists based in the UK (with a UK address, or are studying or working in the UK) over the age of 18 years old on 12 June 2020.
    • A third party (e.g. gallery, agent or other representative) may submit work on behalf of the artist, but the third party musthave the artist’s written consent.
    • Members of the judging panel, Sustainability First staff members, Associates, Trustees, Patrons or close family members thereof will not be eligible to enter the Competition.
  • The Work
    • The submitted entry (the “Work”) must be original, created in any media – including but not limited to painting, drawing, mixed media, sculpture, video and installation.
    • There is no minimum or maximum size limit for the works, as Sustainability First will display them digitally.
    • The Competition is open to both 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional works.
    • All entered work must have been completed within the last 3 years.
  • The Entry Process
    • In order to enter the competition, all entrants shall complete an online application form  (the “Entry Form”) and follow directions therein.
    • Entries will only be accepted digitally and must be submitted by 12 June 2020; Work submitted after this date will not be accepted.
    • You will automatically receive an email acknowledging receipt of your application.
    • All images uploaded for the purposes of completing the entry process shall not be manipulated or otherwise artificially or digitally enhanced by the Artist.
    • Entry is free

 

  • The Selection Process
    • The judges shall be appointed by Sustainability First in such number and of such qualification as it sees fit at its sole discretion.
    • The judging criteria will include: relevance to the theme; creativity and originality; and overall impression / quality of the artwork.
    • The Judges’ decision shall be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
    • Shortlisted artists will be contacted via the email address or telephone number after 9 June 2020. We would like to hold video interviews with shortlisted artists.
    • Winning entrants will be contacted by 1 July 2020.
  • Display of Artworks
    • Sustainability First will display the artworks digitally – as an online exhibition, with an exhibition catalogue of shortlisted works and on social media.

 

  • Prizes
    • Any Competition monies awarded to winning artists is paid gross of all taxes and charges. The prizes are as follows:

First Prize  £1,000

Second Prize  £300

Third Prize £200

  • Sale of Works
    • Works selected for exhibition may be offered for sale; Sustainability First will not take commission on sales and will direct potential clients to the artist.
  • Photography and Copyright
    • Each artist, by entering the Sustainability First Art Prize confirms that they hold all intellectual property rights in the work and the photographs of the work, and that they have obtained prior written approval for the use of any third party copyrighted material contained in the submitted work.
    • Artists will allow Sustainability First to use submitted photographs for the purposes of promoting the exhibition including: catalogue, press and publicity, website and in our on-going communications. Such permission for the use of photographs shall be without charge and in perpetuity.
    • Copyright of all works remains the property of the artist; any enquiries for copyright will be referred to the artist.
  • Data protection and privacy
    • In accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 (and all other relevant Data Protection legislation), Sustainability First will hold the personal data of artists supplied on the Entry Form securely.
    • The data will only be used in the process of administering the Sustainability First Art Prize and will not be transferred to any third party not directly involved in this Exhibition.

  • Access and inclusivity
    • If you have a learning or physical disability and require any support in regards to your entry, please send us an email atartprize@sustainabilityfirst.org.uk and we will do our best to accommodate within our limited resources.
  • Agreement to the conditions of entry
    • By entering the Sustainability First Art Prize artists are agreeing to all of the conditions set out within these Rules, Terms and Conditions of Entry.
    • Sustainability First’s decision on all matters pertaining to the above is final and we reserve the right, at any time, and from time to time to amend, modify, vary, or discontinue the terms of this competition.
    • Sustainability First excludes liability for all loss, damage or claim arising as a result of the participant's entry into the Competition or use of the prizes. No works of art should be sent to the registered office. Sustainability First will not accept any responsibility for any works sent by post or delivered to its offices.
